Mr. Donald Gene Lay Jr., age 48, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Tuesday, September 30, 2014 in Knoxville, Tennessee. Donald was born November 7, 1965 in Jellico, Tennessee.

He was also preceded in death by his father, Donald Gene Lay Sr.

He is survived his wife, April Lay of the residence; mother, Velma Smith of Dalton, GA; step dad, Lewis Thurman Smith of Knoxville, TN; sons, Donald Edward Lay of Cohutta, GA, Stephen Wayne Broyles of Dalton, GA; daughters, Kimberly Kirksey of Cohutta, GA, Tiffany Renee Broyles of Johnson City, TN; brother, Sean Smith of Trion, GA; sister and brother-in-law, Donna Gail and Ernie Creekmore of Jellico, TN; special friends, Tim and Arthur Hird-Dutton, Michael Barlow Sr.; nephew, Gabriel Ensley Smith; nieces, Khristy and Brittany; two grandchildren.

Service to celebrate the life of Mr. Donald Gene Lay Jr. will be held Saturday October 4, 2014 at 5:00 p.m. from the Ponders Melrose Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.
