Mr. Donald Eugene Burgess, age 90, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Friday, September 15, 2023, at the local hospital. He was born August 13, 1933 in Dalton, Georgia, a son of the late Eugene Perry and Grace Carter Burgess. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Bobby Joe Burgess, sisters, Wanda Moore, Jackie Barton. He proudly served his country in the United States Army.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine Burgess of the residence; daughters, Casandra Fowler of Ringgold, GA, Stephanie Hawkins of Tunnel Hill, GA; sisters, Wylene Crow of Spring City, TN, Helen Crowder of Dalton, GA; grandchildren, Heath Hawkins, Casey and Johnny Sabin; six great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Service to celebrate the life of Mr. Donald Eugene Burgess will be held Monday September 18, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. from the Ponders Melrose Chapel with Dr. Danny Cochran and Reverend James Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:30 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Monday.
