Mr. Donald Olan Babb, age 79, of Cohutta, Georgia, departed this life Monday morning, September 24, 2018 at the Regency Park Health Care in Dalton, Georgia.  Donald was born November 4, 1939 in Dalton, Georgia, a son of the late Olan C. and Willie Bell Kenemer Babb.  He was also preceded in death by a brother, Gary W. Babb.

Donald was a 1958 graduate of Valley Point High School.  He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1965.  Donald was a Professional land surveyor for over fifty years and was the owner of Allied Surveying, Inc.

He was a faithful member of Liberty Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and was the former teacher of the Senior Men's Sunday School Class for many years. He was a true outdoorsman and loved to fish and hunt.

He is survived by his  wife, Dorothy "Dot" Babb of the residence and would have celebrated their fifty-eight wedding anniversary, October 15, 2018; daughter and son-in-law, Susann and Jeff Sosebee; granddaughter and the love of his life, Sydney Lane Sosebee all of Dalton, GA; brother and sister-in-law, N. Harold and Marsha Babb of Rocky Face, GA; sister, Peggy Babb McArthur of Cohutta, GA; special cousins, Susan and Kenneth Blankenship of Dalton, GA, cousins who were his sons at heart, Clint Blankenship of Dalton, GA, and Matthew Blankenship of Soddy-Daisy, TN; special niece, Sheila Harris Groce of Dalton, GA; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, James and Brenda Harris of Dalton, GA; several other nieces, nephews and many friends.

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Donald Olan Babb will be held Thursday morning, September 27, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Brian Branam and Reverend Danny Cochran officiating. He will be laid to rest at Ponders Whitfield Memorial Gardens with Shane Byers, Daniel Groce, Richie Green, Clint Blankenship, Matthew Blankenship and Donnie Babb serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Wednesday and after 9:30 a.m. Thursday morning until the service hour.
