Mr. Don Eugene Morgan, age 64 of Resaca, Georgia, departed this life Saturday evening, April 4, 2015 at the local hospital. Don was born February 27, 1951 in Dalton, Georgia, a son of the late George and Barbara Kiker Morgan. Don was a 1969 graduate of Valley Point High School where he the captain of the 1968 football team. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Army. He was retired from Dow Chemical. He was an avid Alabama fan and loved NASCAR and his favorite driver was Dale, Jr. He loved staying in touch with his friends and family. The true love of his life was caring for his family. We will miss you "Da".
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of forty-five years, Jackie Arrington Morgan on September 30, 2014.
He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Chrissie Morgan, Jenny and David Parks, Ashley and Chris Cloer; grandchildren, Eli Roberson, Jeremiah Roberson, Joshua and Alisha Roberson, Hannah Parks, Matthew Cloer and Jacob Cloer; great grandchildren, Haleigh Roberson, Sarah Holcomb, Harper Roberson and Ansleigh Godfrey; brothers and sisters-in-law, Scott and Cindy Morgan and Chuck and Darline Morgan; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Glenda and Perry Long, Rosie and Paul Pieri; aunts, Sally Lybrand, Sis Williams and Gwilda Gribble; uncle and aunt, Nathan and Mildred Arrington; special nieces and nephews, Dana and David Bragg, Dedra and BB Brown, Macey Morgan, Meg Pieri, Anna Pieri and Mary Beth and John Rand; special family friend, Jimmy Norrell; and his very special companion, his little Australian shepherd, Amos.
Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Don E. Morgan will be held Tuesday morning, April 7, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Allen Ball, Reverend Chris Stanley and Chaplain Ken Waddell officiating. Interment will follow at 12:30 p.m. at the Chattanooga National Cemetery with Eli Roberson, Jeremiah Roberson, Joshua Roberson, Matthew Cloer, Jacob Cloer, Scott Morgan, Chuck Morgan and Allen Ball serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer will be Jimmy Norrell. Graveside honors will be provided by the Dalton American Legion Post #112. The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.The family would like to give special thinks to the staff of Hamilton Medical Center.
