Mr. D.L. Jenkins, 88, of Lafayette, Georgia, departed this life on Wednesday evening, March, 28, 2018 in the comfort of his home with his loving family by his side.
He was born on November 5, 1929, in Dalton, Georgia, a son of the late S.C. and Ivy Silver Jenkins. Along with his parents he was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Janice Rita Jenkins, who passed away in 2013.
Prior to his illness Mr. Jenkins was a self-employed machinist. He proudly served our country in the United States Army. He was a member of the Church of God of the Union Assembly.
Mr. Jenkins is survived by his sons and daughter-in-law, David and Vicki Jenkins, and Larry Tate; daughters, Sharon Ann Jenkins, and Judy Lynn Jenkins Crider; brother, Floyd Jenkins, all of Dalton, Georgia; his special grandson and care-taker, Chris Collins and his wife Misty of the home in Lafayette; a number of other family members and friends also survive.
A service to celebrate the life of Mr. D.L. Jenkins will be held on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. from the Melrose Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home with Reverend Charles Pratt officiating. Mr. Jenkins will be laid to rest at the Ponders Whitfield Memorial Gardens beside his beloved wife.
The family will receive friends at the Melrose Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home on Friday, March 30, 2018 from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M.
