Obituary

Mrs. Diana Kay Koger Wilcox, age 57, of Dalton, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Wednesday afternoon, July 31, 2024, at the local hospital. Born on December 4, 1966, in Somerset, Kentucky, Diana was the cherished daughter of the late Jimmy Ray "Buck" and Janice "Jan" Spradlin Ross. Affectionately known as "Sis" to her family, she was also preceded in death by her beloved grandparents, Fred and Flossie Waters Spradlin, and Starlin and Mae Hodge Ross.

A proud 1984 graduate of McCreary County High School in Whitley City, Kentucky, Diana's spirit was as vibrant as the outdoors she so adored. Her love for nature was matched only by her passion for riding her Harley Davidson motorcycle, which she did with great joy as a former member of the Mountain Creek Harley Davidson Hog Club. Her adventures took her across the Southeast, where she found freedom and exhilaration on the open road.

Diana was also a devoted member of Welcome Hill Baptist Church, where her warm heart and generous spirit touched many lives. She leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion to her family, which was the center of her world. Diana is survived by her loving husband, Lee Wilcox of Dalton, Georgia; her children, Brittany (Garrett) Smith of Tunnel Hill, Georgia, Bryan (Autumn) Koger of Calhoun, Georgia, and Christopher (Nakita) Hale of Parkers Lake, Kentucky; and her cherished grandchildren, Mason Smith, Levi Smith, Luke Koger, Addison Koger, Kamryn Hale, and Adley Hale

She is also survived by her siblings and their spouses: Christy (Andy) Coffey of Monticello, Kentucky, Misty (Austin) Hicks of McCreary County, Kentucky, and Jimmy Allen (Tasha) Ross of McCreary County, Kentucky; as well as her uncles Tommy (Deana) Ross of Sweetwater, Tennessee, and Todd Spradlin of McCreary County, Kentucky. Diana also leaves behind several nieces and nephews who will remember her with deep affection.

A celebration of Diana's life will be held on Monday, August 12, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel, with Reverend Sanford Lawrence officiating. Diana will be laid to rest at Ponders Colonial Hills Memorial Park Cemetery, where she will take her final Harley ride, driven by Chris Stanley. Billy Koger, Chris Stanley, Austin Hicks, Caleb Hansford, Jimmy Ross, and Andy Coffey will be honored to serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Monday until the time of the service.

In honoring Diana's memory, her family invites all who knew her to celebrate her life's journey—one marked by a boundless love for her family, an adventurous spirit, and a deep connection to the open road. She will be profoundly missed and forever remembered.Top of FormBottom of Form
