Mr. Derrell Edward Wimpy, age 86, of Rocky Face, GA, departed this life Friday February 23, 2018 at his home with his family and made the ultimate trip to his heavenly home. Derrell was born August 24, 1931 in Dalton, GA, the son of the late Arnold Alvin Wimpy and Iva Ellen Hasty Wimpy. Derrell was also preceded in death by his daughter Joan Whitfield, son-in-law, Jack Whitfield; sister, Barbara Haynes. Derrell served proudly in the United States Marine Corps. Derrell was a 1950 graduate of Westside High School. Derrell worked for many years at J.J. Industries. When he could Derrell would load up the family, head to Piggly- Wiggly for supplies and then head off for a relaxing camping and fishing trip.

Derrell is survived by his high school sweetheart, Marion Virginia Pangle Wimpy, they celebrated 67 years of marriage January 20, 2018. Derrell is also survived by his son, Nathan Lloyd; daughter, Melissa Wimpy; grandchildren, Teri Whitfield, John Whitfield, Lana Lloyd; brother, Rodney Wimpy.

Celebration of life will be held March 3, 2018 at 2:00 from Friendship Baptist Church, 3901 Lowery Ln, Rocky Face, GA 30740 with Reverend John Everett and David Pangle officiating. Military rites will be performed by American Legion Dalton Post 112.

The family ask that flowers be omitted and donations made to the Building Fund at Friendship Baptist Church 3901 Lowery Ln, Rocky Face, GA 30740.
