Mr. Delmar Rickey Cloer, age 71, of Chatsworth, Georgia, departed this life Sunday afternoon, May 12, 2024 at the Advent Health Gordon in Calhoun, Georgia.  Rickey was born February18, 1953, in Chatsworth, Georgia, a son of the late Delmar and Ruth Ponders Cloer.  He was also preceded in death by his brother, Johnny Cloer, grandparents, Joseph Lee and Tillie West Cloer and Lawrence A. and Roxie Southerland Ponders.

Rickey was a 1971 graduate of Murray County High School. He was employed with Perpetual Machine Company where he worked for the past thirty-six years.  Rickey loved dirt track racing and has driven his own car (# 71) since he was seventeen years old. He raced many years at North Georgia Speedway. He was a member of Chatsworth Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Cothran Cloer of the residence and would have celebrated their twenty-sixth wedding anniversary on June 4, 2024; son, Jody and Chrystal Cloer of Resaca, GA; daughters, Shannon and Stephanie Page, Dana and Shawn Johnson all of Chatsworth, GA, Arielle Cothran and Alicia Barnonski of Lexington, SC; sister, Teresa and Scott Croy; sister-in-law, Becky Cloer all of Chatsworth, GA; grandchildren, Abbie and Caleb Culberson, Austin and Alexis Coker, Chelsey Deal and Jake Ice, Dylan Flood, Kailie Wimberley and Kristen Johnson; great-grandchildren, Juniper Culberson, Orion Culberson, Evie Culberson, Aria Coker, Grayson Ice and Koleson Ice; nephews and nieces, Johnny and Brittany Cloer, April and Allen Stanfield, Jonathan and Kendra Ownby, Brandy and Phillip Burns, Amy and Charles Sibert; best friend, Randy Usrey of Chatsworth, GA; uncle and aunt, Temple and Sandra Cloer of Dalton, GA; many cousins.

Services to celebrate the life of Delmar Rickey Cloer will be held Thursday, May 16, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Minister Bill Dedmon and Reverend Randy Deal officiating. He will be laid to rest with his family at Smyrna Baptist Church Cemetery with Austin Coker, Johnny Cloer, Jonathan Ownby, Dylan Flood, Shawn Johnson and Allen Stanfield honored to serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Wednesday and after 10:00 a.m. Thursday until the service hour.
