Mrs. Deborah Christine Lumpkin age 69, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Wednesday May 17, 2023, at the Emory Saint Joseph's Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, after months of battling a chronic illness.
Deborah was born May 1, 1954 in Dalton, Georgia, a daughter of the late Charles Eugene and Deva C. Bowen McAllister. She was also preceded in death by her husband of forty-one years, John Billy Lumpkin, her brother, Wayne McAllister, her sister, Teresa Amos, her in-laws, Dimple Lumpkin, Henry and Sharon Lumpkin and a brother-in-law Michael Lumpkin.
She was a member of Whitfield Baptist Church, where she served as the ladies Sunday school teacher for years. She loved serving God. She loved her family. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and watching her grandson play football for UGA. She also loved gardening and being outdoors.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Stuart Speer of Calhoun, GA; son, John Christopher Lumpkin of Dalton, GA; grandchildren, Christon and Jackson Peden, Tyler Lumpkin Drake Lumpkin, Carson Speer and Cole Speer; great-grandchildren, Chloe and Taccoa Peden, Laneah and Axel Lumpkin; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Henrietta Cameron, Roger and Sheila Lumpkin, Zach and Tesha Lumpkin and Darlene Lumpkin, Frank Cameron; several nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate the life of Deborah Christine Lumpkin will be held Friday evening May 19, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Wayne Cofield officiating. She will be laid to rest with her husband at Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery in Resaca, Georgia, with her grandsons, Tyler Lumpkin, Drake Lumpkin, Carson Speer, Cole Speer and Jackson Peden honored to serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends after 4:00 p.m. Friday until the service hour.
