Obituary

Debbie Ownbey Henderson, beloved mother, grandmother, friend, and member of Spring Place Baptist Church, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2025, surrounded by her family and the many people who loved her fiercely.

She was the devoted mother of Hannah Lipsey (Tyler) and Trevor Henderson (Robin Corbin), and the proud Mimmy of five grandchildren who were the light of her life: Jonas, Riley, Glory, Dottie Rose, and Reagan.

Debbie mothered far beyond the bounds of her own children, becoming a second mom to countless others who still carry her love with them today. Whether you knew her as a dance mom (with the tightest ponytails in the Southeast), a church sister, a UGA megafan, or the one who never forgot a birthday, you knew you were deeply seen and loved by her.

Debbie was a faithful member of Spring Place Baptist Church, where she served her community with humility and devotion. She believed in showing up, in doing the right thing, and in loving people well.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dot and Gerald Ownbey, and is survived by her children, grandchildren, and a loving extended family of siblings, nieces, nephews, lifelong friends, honorary children, and more "adopted" family than anyone could count.

Her children would like to express their gratitude to her many caregivers, professional and not, who worked overtime in loving her hard through the last leg of her earthly journey. Special thanks to her bestie Kym Vick who went the extra mile in taking care of Debbie and put her first always. What a beautiful testament to see her love for others reflected back so clearly in her time of greatest need.

The family will receive friends at Spring Place Baptist Church (Address: 441 Highway 225 S, Chatsworth, GA 30705)  on Thursday, September 11, beginning at 9:30 AM, with a celebration of life service to follow at 1:00 PM, also at Spring Place.

In keeping with Debbie's joyful spirit and her specific wishes, the family kindly asks that attendees wear pink or bright colors to the service.

In lieu of flowers, Debbie would want you to provide a meal to someone in need, show up for the people you love, and call your mom…if you're lucky enough to still have her.
