Obituary

Deanna (Deedee) Carol Griswold Bernal went into the state of eternal rest on January 9, 2021 at her residence peacefully with Bella by her side. Deanna was born in Palmer, TN on May 16, 1940 to Mary Heelen Sitz Griwold and George Willie Griswold, which have preceded her in death. She was also proceeded in death by her son-in-law, William Fredrick (Fred) Dismuke.  She was of the Methodist/Christian faith. She is survived by her daughter, Marybeth Dismuke of Ranger, GA; son, Ernest Herbert (Denise) Stanford of Woodstock, GA; grandson and granddaughter, Joseph Douglas and Kyndal Cain of Hill City, GA.

Deanna graduated from Grundy County High School, Tracey City, TN. After graduation she went to Atlanta, GA to work for the Hartford Company. Deanna retired from Delta Air Lines after several years of dedicated service. She was a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary. After Deanna retired, she volunteered tirelessly for the Voluntary Action Center, Calhoun, GA. The Voluntary Action Center is a non-profit organization serving as the heart of service in Gordon County, which provides volunteer opportunities that offer a wide variety of emergency resources to our neighbors in need in our community.

It is Deanna's wish to be cremated. A Celebration of Life will be held in May 2021.

Instead of flowers, the family asks you to consider making donations to Voluntary Action Center, 343 South Wall St. Calhoun, GA 30701 or Abella Palliative Care Inc. a community based/ non-profit organization located at 189 Professional Court SE Ste 400, Calhoun, GA, 30701. Abella Palliative Care provides healthcare that aims to provide relief/care from symptoms and stress of serious illness of both the patient and their family. Abelle PC transferred Deanna to Tapestry Hospice, where they would in Charge of Deanna's healthcare in her final months at home. Deanna was trulu blessed beyond measures from their car and true love for what they do.

Due to the National health crisis and the Covid-19 virus, masks must be worn properly at all times and social distancing must be observed when visiting the funeral home.
