Mr. David Lee Zimmer, age 70, of Fairmount, Georgia, departed this life
Monday evening, September 28, 2015 at the Gordon Hospital in Calhoun,
Georgia. David was born June 12, 1945 in Hillsdale, Michigan, a son of the
late Earl J. and Mildred Filby Zimmer. He was also preceded in death by a
sister, Karen Riesing and his mother-in-law, Daisy Langham. He was a 1966
graduate of Edwardsville High School in Edwardsville, Illinois. He was a U.
S. Navy veteran and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War.
David was a computer technician and trouble shooter for Retex.com David
never lost his ability to laugh and even after he was diagnosed in 2001 with
anterolis spondylolisthesis he never gave up. He loved to laugh and when he
laughed it was contagious. He had a great sense of humor.
He is survived by his loving wife of twenty five years, Laura Langham
Zimmer of the residence; son, Aaron Zimmer of Fairmount, GA; step-
children, Christopher Crider, Kimberly Arnold both of Dalton, GA, James
Burchfield of Texas and Terrie Rhodes of Ringgold, GA; brother and sister-
in-law, Paul and Tonya Zimmer of Kemper, TX; sisters and brothers-in-law,
Kathy and Kerry O'Brien of Vista, CA, Connie Parks of Atlanta, GA,
Howard Riesing of Hamel, IL; father-in-law, Billy Langham of Fairmount,
GA; several nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate the life of Mr. David Lee Zimmer will be held Monday,
October 5, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Ponders Fairmount Chapel with Reverend
Jim Storm officiating. Interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the Georgia
National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia, with _________________serving as
pallbearers. Military graveside honors will be giving by the Dalton
American Legion Post #112. The family will receive friends at Ponders
Fairmount Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Sunday and after 11:00
a.m. Monday until the service hour.
