Mr. David Michael Moreland, age 66, of Cohutta, Georgia, departed this life Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at his residence. Michael was born September 5, 1948 in Dalton, Ga a son of the late John Henry and Armoree Grant Moreland. He was also preceded in death by his sister Henda Sloan. Michael owned Executive Pest Services for over 25 years and was a pest control professional for over 42 years. He was a member of Varnell Baptist Church.

Michael is survived by his wife of 34 years, Patricia Moreland,

Son, Chris McCollum, loving sister and brothers-in-law, Debbie

and Noel Clark, Lamar Sloan; grandchildren, Tyler McCollum, Tara McCollum, and Tristan McCollum; brother Lee Moreland; several loving nieces and nephews. Everyone that knew Mike loved him. He will be missed.

Services to celebrate the life of Michael Moreland will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 4, 2014 at Varnell Baptist Church, with Pastor Bret Bellamy and Brother Tim Brown officiating, interment will follow at Varnell Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Ponders Funeral Home Melrose Chapel from 5:00p.m. until 9:00 p.m on Friday and Saturday until 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family has requested contributions to the Kidney foundation or to the family for funeral expenses.
