Mr. David Lloyd Bell, known as "Big John", age 64, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Tuesday afternoon, December 5, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

David was born in Dalton on January 18, 1953, a son of the late George and Florence Evelyn Brock Bell. Along with his parents he was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert Bell, known as "Little John".

Prior to becoming disabled, David worked for Shaw Industries. He was an avid deer hunter and fisherman. David was a member at New Zion Hill Baptist Church.

David is survived by his loving wife since November 19, 1977, Reba Faye White Bell, of the residence; his only daughter, Lisa Lee Bell; sisters, Denise Black, Starr Beene, and Leann Bell all of Dalton; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry Bell of Rocky Face, Randall & Patricia Bell, Roger & Lisa Bell all of Chatsworth, Brian Bell, Phillip & Brenda Bell all of Dalton; several nieces and nephews also survive.

A service to celebrate the life of Mr. David "Big John" Bell will be held on Friday, December 8, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. from the Melrose Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home with his brother, Reverend Phillip Bell officiating. He will be laid to rest at the New Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

The Bell family will receive friends on Thursday, November 7, 2017 from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. at the Melrose Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home.
