Mr. David Leroy Gillespie, age 62, of Chatsworth, GA departed this life, Friday March 13, 2020 at the Murray Medical Center. He was born in Dalton, GA, a son of the late JR and Mary Lou Roberson Gillespie. He was retired from the City of Dalton Public Works after 32 years.

He is survived by his wife, Careen Evans Gillespie of the residence; daughter and son-in-law, Kirstie Gillespie and Kahlis Staton of Dalton, GA; brothers and sister-in-law, Mark Gillespie of Chatsworth, GA, John and Genell Gillespie, Ralph Gillespie of Dalton, GA; sisters and brothers-in-law, Sue and William Shelton of Dalton, GA, Tina Rhudy, Carolyn and Ricky Welch of Chatsworth, Linda Sexton of Calhoun, GA; special nephew, Wayne Sexton of Chatsworth, GA; special friend, Frances "Bill" Chastain of Dalton, GA; 13 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Service to celebrate the life of Mr. David Leroy Gillespie will be held Wednesday March 18, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. from the Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Hugh Burdette officiating.  Interment will follow in the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
