Mr. David Melvin Bond, age 77, of Dalton, Georgia departed this life, Saturday, September 3, 2022.  David was born October 7, 1944, in Hamilton, Ohio, a son of the late Delbert and Ruth Tussey Bond.  He was also preceded in death by his sister Naomi Bond Faulknor, brother-in-law, Floyd Carrell and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jessie Ford and Eva Johnson Messer, Sr; niece, Maurene Carrell; great nephew, Preston Prater.

David attended Dalton State College where he studied Residential and Commercial Electrical Engineering.  He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War as a medic in the 25 ^Th Infantry where he earned two purple hearts.  He was a lifelong member of the Church of God of The Union Assembly at Calhoun, Georgia.

He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-four years, Mary Messer Bond of the residence; son and daughter-in-law, Jesse and Sheena Bond of Chatsworth, GA; grandchildren, Tripp Callahan and Jayla Callahan; chosen daughters, Georgina Sparks of Gadsden, AL, and Lakita Story of Chatsworth,, GA; brothers and sister-in-law, Vernon and Sharon Bond of Dalton, GA, and Stanley Eugene Bond of Chatsworth, GA; sisters and brothers-in-law, Wilma Carrell of Ringgold, GA, Deborah and Harold Prater of Chatsworth, GA, and William "Pete" Faulknor of Dalton, GA; uncle and aunts, Junior and Nola Bond of Palm Harbor, FL, and Marietta Bond of Hamilton, OH; Aunt, Irene J Haney; many chosen grandchildren, great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. David Melvin Bond will be held Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Denny Gentry, Vernon Bond and Jesse Bond officiating.  He will be laid to rest with his family at West Hill Cemetery with Charlie Carrell, Christopher Prater, Chase Holden, Shane Holden, Jamey Messer, Kerry Robinson and Tim Story honored to serve as pallbearers.  Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Hall, Bobby Edwards, Archie Bryant and Pete Faulknor.The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Tuesday and after 11:00 a.m. Wednesday until the service hour.
