Mr. Darrell Dempsey, age 79 of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Friday September 30, 2022 at Regency Park. He was born June 7, 1943 in Dalton, GA, a son of the late Reuben and Izora Weaver Dempsey. He was also preceded in death by his brothers-in-law, Charles Spanky Hayes and Doug Pankey. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church. He loved to read history, watch animal shows and to travel.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Linda Hayes Dempsey of the residence; brother and sisters-in-law, David and Kay Dempsey of Kiawah Island, SC, Janet Hayes of Dalton, GA, Judy Pankey of Gulf Breeze, FL; niece, Bethany Ausmus of Atlanta, GA; nephew, Keith Dempsey of Dalton, GA; several special nieces and nephews.

Service to celebrate the life of Darrell Dempsey will be held Tuesday October 4, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. from the Ponders Melrose Chapel with David Dempsey and Noel Caldwell officiating. Interment will follow in the Ponders Whitfield Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
