Mrs. Cynthia Irene Lomax, age 89 of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Thursday, December 29, 2016 at her residence. Mrs. Cynthia Lomax was born December 15, 1927 in Macon, GA, a daughter of the late Troy and Effie Hutto Hadden. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Truett Lomax; son, Scott Lomax; sister, Gloria Sherling; and daughter-in-law, Olivia Lomax. She was a very active member of First United Methodist Church of Dalton and also was a member of the Fellowship Sunday School class. She loved to volunteer at the City of Refuge. She also was a member of the Sounds of Joy.

She is survived by her son, Wayne Lomax of Simpsonville, SC granddaughter, Lori Lomax of Greenville, SC, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dr. Bob and Mrs. Betty Lomax of Salisbury, SC; nephews, Steve and Thelma Sherling of Lakeland, FL; Mike and Vicki Sherling of Moultrie, GA.; special friend, Chris Withrow of Dalton, GA.; several other nieces and nephews.

Memorial services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Cynthia Irene Lomax will be held Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at 1:00 pm at First United Methodist Church of Dalton with Reverend Randy Knipe officiating. The family will receive friends at First United Methodist Church of Dalton in the atrium from 11:00 am until service hour on Tuesday, January 3, 2017. Interment will be in Ponders Whitfield Memorial Gardens.
