IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Cynthia Marie
"Cindy" Story
August 27, 1966 – May 18, 2025
Mrs. Cynthia Marie "Cindy" Story, age 58, of Resaca, Georgia, departed this life on Sunday, May 18, 2025, at AdventHealth Gordon in Calhoun, Georgia.
Born on August 27, 1966, at Grady Hospital in downtown Atlanta, Georgia, Cindy was the beloved daughter of the late Melvin Harold and Ruby Louise Christopher Best. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Ira Owen Owenby in 2014; an infant sister, Melissa Gail Best; and a sister-in-law, Terri Lynn Best.
A 1984 graduate of Southeast High School, Cindy later earned her associate's degree in education from Dalton State College. She dedicated many years of service as the receptionist at Calhoun Health Care, where she was known for her warm smile, kind heart, and gentle way of helping others.
Cindy lived a life centered on faith, family, and the simple joys that gave her the greatest happiness. She was a devoted mother and grandmother whose love knew no bounds. Her daughters and grandchildren were the light of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Cindy found beauty in the everyday—whether it was a quiet conversation, a shared laugh, or the joy of learning something new.
She is survived by her husband, Samuel Lee Story of the residence; her daughters, Wendy Rosas and Larry Quarles of Chattanooga, TN, Brandy and Carlos Lopez, Brittany, and Amber Owenby, all of Calhoun, GA; and her cherished grandchildren, Kevin Rosas, Kris Rosas, Kabria Rosas, Esperanza Reyes, Edwin Reyes, Elias Reyes, Haley Smith, Destiny Jenkins, and Elijah Shugart.
Also surviving are her special friends, Mandi Craig of Calhoun, GA, and Elaine Smith of Dalton, GA; brothers, Melvin Best, Jr. and Anthony "Tony" Best of Lafayette, GA, and Michael and Fannie Best of Dalton, GA; sisters, Ruth Ann and Andy Morgan of Calhoun, GA, Tammy and Keith Jackson of Hiawassee, GA, and Patricia and Timmy Wells of Sugar Valley, GA; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will carry her memory in their hearts.
