Ms. Cornelia Mae "Corky" Townsend, age 81, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Friday, November 03, 2017 at the local hospital. Corky was born June 3, 1936 in Dalton, Georgia, a daughter of the late William Walter and Eva Mae Prichard Brock. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Calvin Townsend, Sr., and a daughter, Melissa Gail Croy, sisters, Sheila Brock and Peggy Brock, Janice Epperson, Elaine Guess and Virginia and Ernest Huggins and brothers, James "Buddy, Swimmer" Brock, Allen Brock and Donald Brock, an infant brother, Farris Brock.

Corky worked many years as a waitress at the Creamo Drive In.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Donna Renee and Nathan Ridley of Ringgold, GA, Rhonda Lee "Sissy" and Sammy Faw of Chatsworth, GA; sons and daughter-in-law, Gregory W. Rutledge of Amarillo, TX, John C. Townsend, Jr. and Rhonda Young of Dalton, GA, and James Michael "Mickey" and Susan Brock of Ft. Oglethorpe, GA; sister and brother-in-law, Eva Nell and Joe Smith of Lubbock, TX; brother, Gary Brock and Lisa Brock of Dalton, GA; sisters-in-law, Marie Brock and Nancy Brock both of Dalton, GA; Jennifer Dawn Ellis, thirteen grandchildren, thirty-one great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate the life of Ms. Cornelia Mae "Corky" Townsend will be held Monday, November 6, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Eugene Miller officiating. She will be laid to rest at the Brock Cemetery at Pine Grove Baptist Church with Bruce Brock, Matthew Edwards, Jacob Edwards, Harold Brock, Nathan Ridley and Shane Stanley serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Sunday and after 12:00 p.m. noon Monday until the service hour.
