Mrs. Cora Mae Burgess, age 87, of Rocky Face, Georgia, departed this life Monday morning, October 5, 2015 at the local hospital. Cora was born October 3, 1928 in Dekalb County, Alabama, a daughter of the late Luther and Luevindie Frasier Bailey. She was also preceded in death by her husband of fifty nine years, R.B. Burgess, a daughter, Connie Gail Burgess, her sister, Dalpha Stanley and her brother, James Bailey.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Clyde and Lisa Burgess of Dalton, GA, Jerry Burgess of Chatsworth, GA, Randle and Paulette Burgess of Rocky Face, GA; daughter, Jeannette Burgess of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Jason Burgess, Kristen Burgess, Alisha Poss and Kevin Fowler; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Cora Mae Burgess will be held Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Dewey Boyd officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband at Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5:00 p.n., until 9:00 p.m. Tuesday and after 11:00 a.m. Wednesday until the service hour.
