Mr. Clinton Erwin Manis, age 81, of Dalton, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 7, 2024, at Regency Park Health and Rehabilitation, surrounded by his loving family.
Born March 14, 1943, in Dalton, Georgia. Erwin was the son of the late John Clinton and Bertie Lee Griggs Manis. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Joshua A. "Josh" Foster; sisters and brother-in-law, Linda Quarles, Betty Lou Reed, Janie Townsend and Don Bates; and brothers, C.L. Manis and Leo Manis, as well as his sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Glenda and David Shipman, and Barbara Dixon.
Erwin was a hardworking homebuilder by trade, spending over 45 years building homes with dedication and care. He was a member of The Church of God of The Union Assembly. Outside of work, Erwin enjoyed golfing, deer hunting, and working in his yard, but his greatest joy was the time he spent with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Pat Headrick Manis; son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Vivian Manis of Calhoun, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and Bruce Miolen of Dalton, GA; grandchildren, Nick and Lesleigh Manis, Jimmy and Andrea Stewart, Heather and Drew Carter; great-grandchildren, Rylan Manis, Callan Manis, Camryn Carter, Wyatt Stewart, Case Carter, and Kendall Carter. He is also survived by his brother, Joe Manis of Dalton, GA; sisters, Mary Ann Bates of Jackson, GA, and Kathy Manis of Dalton, GA; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Allen and Charlene Headrick of Dalton, GA; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Erwin's unwavering love and dedication to his family will forever be cherished. His legacy of hard work and devotion to those he loved will live on through the many lives he touched.
A celebration of life service will be held Thursday, October 10, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel, with Reverend Chuck Clark and Reverend Stoney Kiser officiating. He will be laid to rest beside his grandson at Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the chapel starting at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday until the time of service.
