Obituary

Mrs. Clara Bell Shipman Holland, age 64, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Friday afternoon, August 10, 2018 at the Erlanger Health Care in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Clara was born February 11, 1954 in Dalton, Georgia, a daughter of the late John Vernie and Minnie Bell Petty Shipman.  She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Roy, James Floyd and Walter Doc Shipman, sisters, Sue Waters and Peggy Carroll.

Clara was an extremely hard worker and she never met a stranger.  She enjoyed good conversation and was always concerned about others. Her life was lived for others, especially her family.  She attended the Resaca Church of God.  She was employed at Nance Carpet in Calhoun, Georgia.

She is survived by her true love, Earl Richard Holland of the residence; sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Janice Holland of Dalton, GA, Raymond and Andrea Holland of Cleveland, TN; grandchildren, Rayelyn and Skylar Holland, Brian and Crystal Jackson and Little Man Avery Tuck; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bob and Aletha Shipman, Johnny and Edna Shipman all of Cleveland, TN, Robert and Wanda Shipman of Chatsworth, GA, Dennis Shipman of Sugar Valley, GA, Luke and Marie Shipman of Dalton, GA; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Terry Ogle of Beaverdale, GA, Jamie and Buddy Stover of Calhoun, GA, Robbie and James Pickett of Dalton, GA, Harland Waters of Conyers, GA, and Sam Carroll of Resaca, GA; aunts, Rosa Mae Petty Shipman of Dalton, GA, and Nett Johns of Calhoun, GA; several nieces, nephews and many other extended family.

Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Clara Bell Holland will be held Monday, August 13, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Resaca Church of God with Reverend Mitchell Gaston officiating.  She will be laid to rest at Ponders Whitfield Memorial Gardens with Thomas Franks, Jerry Long, Jeremy Ward, Paul Shipman, Tommy Milton, Eric Burns, Charlie Hayes and Robbie Townsend serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Sunday and after 9:00 a.m. Monday until the service hour.
