Mrs. Clara Jeanette McCollum, age 70, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Saturday afternoon, December 16, 2017 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family. Jeanette was born September 2, 1947 in Dalton, Georgia, a daughter of the late Buford and Clara Pearl Duckworth Townsend. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband of forty-eight years, Kenneth McCollum, Sr., grandchildren, Jamie Copeland and Andrew Zachary Baker, sister, Jane Blaylock and brothers, Marvin and Trammell Townsend.

Jeanette was retired from Carpets of Dalton and was an active member of Valley Brook Church of God.

Jeanette was sweet little lady, had a heart of gold, was very feisty and told everyone "I Love You". She enjoyed going to church and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her sons, Tommy McCollum and his girlfriend, Angel Cochran, Kenny and Celia McCollum, Michael and Tracey McCollum all of Dalton, GA; grandchildren, Erica Baker, Steven Perry, Ashley Brown, Ariel McCollum, Celissa Woodall, Shane Crowley, Blake McCollum, Travis Wolanin and Kayla Davis; twenty-one great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Also her very special companion, her little Chihuahua, Reece.

Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Clara Jeanette McCollum will be held Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Junior Clayton officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband at United Memorial Gardens with Steve Tatum, Barry Nelson, Jamie Hooker, Todd Wolanin, Scott Long, Kelly Evans and Craig Barker serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday and after 10:00 a.m. Tuesday until the service hour.
