Mrs. Clara Sue Carter, age 97, of Calhoun, Georgia, departed this life Monday, June 24, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 27, 1927 in Dalton, Georgia, a daughter of Harvey and Annie Johnson Hullender. She was also preceded in death by her husband William "Bill" Carter, son Winston George Hackney, daughter Betty Ann Hackney, brothers John Hullender, Harlen Hullender, Charles Hullender, sisters Reba Pritchett, Barbara Bagley, Virginia Jo Green.

She is survived by her daughter, Katherine S. Hill of Calhoun, GA; sister, Dimple Ann Lewis of Hixson, TN; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Clara Sue Carter will be held Thursday June 27, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. from the Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Ernesto Molina and Pastor Chad Pickle officiating. She will be laid to rest at the United Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Thursday.
