Mr. Charlie Estel Sneed, age 78, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Sunday July 10, 2016 at the local hospital surrounded by his loving family. Charlie was born September 18, 1937 in Dalton, Georgia, a son of the late Henry N. and Ethel Womack Sneed. He was also preceded in death by his devoted wife of fifty-one years, Shirley Ann McClure Sneed on April 28, 2009, a son-in-law, Cecil Caldwell, sisters, Elizabeth Miles, Ruby Stepp and Hazel Bell and brothers, Ralph Sneed, James Sneed and Earl Sneed and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Charles and Dorothy McClure. Charlie worked many years in the textile industries and was a lifelong member and deacon of The Church of God of the Union Assembly.

He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Ricky and Tracy Sneed of Tunnel Hill, GA, Jerry Lee and Tammy Sneed; daughters and son-in-law, Deborah Caldwell, Roxie and Eugene Rogers; a special person he claimed as his third daughter, Sharon and Jimmy Newton; sister, Dorothy "Dot' Martin all of Dalton, GA; grandchildren, Chasity Sneed, Anthony and Samantha Sneed, Adam and Tori Sneed, Samantha and Josh Butler, Zackary Sneed, Tosha Capehart, Dewayne and Caress Caldwell, Ricky Rogers, Cory and Stachia Rogers, Kyana Rogers and Kayla Rogers; fifteen great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Melvin McClure, Bobby McClure and Donald McClure all of Dalton, GA; several nieces and nephews and many friends.

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Charlie E. Sneed will be held Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Charlon Brafford and Reverend Ricky Maddron officiating. He will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife at Little Prospect Memorial Burial Grounds with his grandsons, Cory Rogers, Tony Sneed, Adam Sneed, Dewayne Caldwell, Ricky Rogers and Zack Sneed serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Tuesday and after 11:00 a.m. Wednesday until the service hour.
