Mr. Charles Edward Smith, age 71, of Resaca, Georgia, departed this life Tuesday October 15, 2013 at the local hospital. Charles was born January 11, 1942 in Dalton, Georgia a son of the late John "King" David and Opal Greeson Smith. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Helen Louise Henderson Smith, son, Perry Dale, brothers, Bobby Smith, Ricky Smith, Joe Smith.

He is survived by his sons and daughter-in-law, Charlie Joe Smith of Resaca, GA, George Harold and Tonya Dale of Lafayette, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Eyvon Stewart and David Feagans of Resaca, GA, Mary and Ricky Cline of Bremen, GA; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and C.M. Higgins of Resaca, GA, Betty and Gene Mulkey of Dalton, GA; grandchildren, Brittney Smith, Charlie Daniel Smith, Brandy Stewart, Miranda Dale, Joe Davis, Andy Davis, Daniel Dale, Kenneth Dale; six great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate the life Mr. Charles Edward Smith will be held Thursday, October 17, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. from the Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Junior Williams officiating. He will be laid to rest at the Fairview Cemetery at Hall Memorial Baptist Church in Gordon County.

The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Wednesday.
