Mr. Charles Elbert Shelton Sr., age 64, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Thursday evening, December 26, 2013 at the local hospital. Charles was born July 7, 1949 in Dalton, GA, a son of the late William Charles and Tamer Jane Smith Shelton. He was also preceded in death by his son Charles Elbert Shelton Jr.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Betty Louise Stewart Shelton of the residence; his children, Stewart Anthony Shelton and Amanda Cordell of Chatsworth, GA, Jessica and Shaon Charles Forrester of Dalton, GA; mother-in-law, Tressa Marie Stewart of Eton, GA; brothers and sister-in-law, William Lee and Sue Shelton of Crandall, GA, Roy Shelton, Billy Joe Shelton of Dalton, GA; sister, Betty Jane Chapman of Dalton, GA; five grandchildren.

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Charles Elbert Shelton Sr. will be held Monday December 30, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. from the Ponders Melrose Chapel with Marty Rolen officiating. He will be laid to rest beside his son at the West Hill Cemetery with Stevie Mealer, Michael Mealer, Danial Mealer, David Cantrell, Steve Wilson and Shon Rolen serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 P.M. until 2 P.M. on Monday.
