Mr. Charles Jayroe Cole, age 74 of Dalton, Georgia, went home to be with his Lord Saturday, April 8, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.

Charles was born March 4, 1949, in Anderson, South Carolina, a son of the late Harold and Inez Matthews Cole.  He was also preceded in death by a special cousin, Geneva Richards and father-in-law and mother-in-law, J.C., and Willie Hicks.

After finishing high school, Charles graduated from Clemson University.  He also received his master's degree from the University of South Carolina in Chemical Engineering.  He worked as a chemical engineer at Allied Chemicals for many years and retired as a consultant at Sigma Breakthrough Technologies.  He was a member of Crosspointe Dalton.

His wife said he was the most wonderful, caring person and would give you the shirt off his back.  He loved to golf and spend time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Hicks Cole and celebrated their twenty-eighth wedding anniversary on January 1, 2023; sons and daughters-in-law, Greg and Amanda Cole of Swansea, SC, Charles and Nancy Cole of Hampton, VA, Jay Headrick and Carmen Darnell of Dalton, GA; daughter and daughter-in-law, Amy and Victoria Nye of Virginia Beach, VA; grandchildren, Jessica and David Cervantes, Brittany and Bryce Cox, Maci Headrick, Garrett Cole, Shelby Cole, Austin Sarokas, Morgan Cornell, Noah Cornell, Breanna and Zack Novak, Carson Cole, Kaity Darnell, and Jimmy Darnell; great-grandchildren, Mila Cervantes, Kaiser Sanchez and T.J. Goforth; brother and sister-in-law, David and Carrie Cole of San Antonio, TX; special caregiver, Sabrina Rodriguez; several cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Charles J. Cole will be held Thursday, April 13, 2023, at 4:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with his pastor Reverend Stan Lester officiating, and his brother, David Cole and granddaughter, Jessica Cervantes delivering the eulogy.  Entombment will follow in the Celebration Mausoleum at Ponders Whitfield Memorial Gardens with Jimmy Darnell, Jay Headrick, David Cole, David Cervantes, Chuck Cole, Michael Izaguirre, Terry Goforth and T.J. Goforth honored to serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel after 11:00 a.m. Thursday morning until the service hour.
