Mr. Charles Leonard Barbee, age 72, of Dalton, Georgia, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at the local hospital. Charles was born January 18, 1944 in Chattanooga, Tennessee, a son of the late John and Nellie Ingram Barbee. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Alton Barbee. He was a member of the Chatsworth Church of God. He worked for many years with the Whitfield County School System in several different schools.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Edith Howard Barbee of the residence; son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Tonya Barbee of Dalton, GA; daughters and son-in-law, Gloria Miller of Chattanooga, TN, Susan and Todd Gilbert of Ringgold, GA; brothers and sister-in-law, Donnie and Sandy Barbee, Gene Barbee, Teddy Barbee; sisters and brother-in-law, Evon Varro, Eva and Ronald Harris, Janie Mitchell all of Ooltewah, TN; grandchildren, Christy and Matt Haire of Cleveland, TN, Bryan Miller of Ooltewah, TN, Justin and Miranda Miller of Cleveland, TN, Nathan Barbee of Ooltewah, TN, Shay Barbee of Ft. Oglethorpe, GA; eleven great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Charles Leonard Barbee will be held Friday, May 27, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel.

The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Friday.
