Mr. Charles Arrington, age 87, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Saturday afternoon, August 10, 2013 at the Hutcheson Medical Center in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia. Charles was born April 16, 1926 in Borden Springs, Alabama, a son of the late Charles P. and Rosie Bell Smith Arrington. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Edward Eaker and a sister, Geneva Smith and brothers, William, Clifford, Franklin and Martin Arrington. He was retired from E.T. Barwick Mills.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Smith Arrington; daughters and sons-in-law, Glenda and Perry Long of Dalton, GA, Rosie and Paul Pieri of Houston, TX, Jackie and Don Morgan of Dalton, GA; step-son, Garland Carter of Sugar Valley, GA; step-daughters and sons-in-law, Alecia and Jock Russell of Calhoun, GA, Kim and Charles Kelley of Dalton, GA; sister, Mavis Joyce of Myrtle Beach, SC; brothers and sisters-in-law, Thomas and Ruby Arrington, Nathan and Mildred Arrington all of Dalton, GA, Ralph and Barbara Arrington of Houston, TX, J.W. Arrington of Piedmont, AL; grandchildren, Dedra and BB Brown, Dana and David Bragg, Christian Robbson, Jeanie and David Parks, Ashley and Chris Cloer, Meg Pieri, Mary Beth Pieri, Anna Pieri, Kaci Cox, Craig Cox, Chris and Karen Brown, Erica Carter, Brooke and Chris Emerson; several great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Charles Arrington will be held Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with ReverendMichael Blackstockofficiating. He will be laid to rest at the Whitfield Memorial Gardens with Craig Cox, Jock Russell, Garland Carter, Charles Kelley, Larry Edwards and Rex Cochran serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Tuesday and after 1:00 p.m. Wednesday until the service hour.
