Mr. Cecil Richard Parker age 88, departed this life Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born February 6, 1930 in Chatsworth, GA, a son of the late Luther and Ruby Corn Parker. He was also preceded in death by his son Antonio Parker, brothers and sisters-in-law, J.C. Parker, McKinley and Mary Parker, Houston and Bertha Parker, sister and brothers-in-law, Ora and George Childers, Tennie and Sercart Davis, Lois and Laut Pulliam, Lilly Parker.

He retire after twenty-two years proudly serving his country in the United States Army. He received the Army Commendation Medal, Bronze Star Medal (10LC), National Defense Service Medal (10LC), Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal (w/60 Device), Vietnam Cross of Gallantry (w/Palm).

He is survived by his loving wife, Sophia Parker of the residence; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill and Margie Parker of Calhoun, GA, John and Linda Parker of Kingston, TN, Edna Parker of Dalton, GA; granddaughter, Sophia Berger; two great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Cecil Richard Parker will be Sunday November 4, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. from the Ponders Melrose Chapel with Pastor Mark Seay officiating. The United States Army will provide full military honors. The family will meet with friends after 12:00 P.M. until the service on Sunday. He will be laid to rest at the Ponders Whitfield Memorial Gardens.
