Mrs. Catherine Louise Smith Kirby age 84, of Dalton, Georgia departed this life, Tuesday May 23, 2017 at the Chatsworth Health Care. Catherine was born June 3, 1932 in Whitfield County, a daughter of the late Jess and Annie Pierce Davis. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Harold Smith and Leonard Kirby, son, Terry Smith, brothers, Jessie Bell and Troy Bell, sister, Betty Bell. She was a member of the Mt. Rachel Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Randall Johnson of Chatsworth, GA; daughter-in-law, Linda Bishop of Dalton, GA; sister, Wilma Cross of Dalton, GA; brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Karen Davis of Dalton, GA; step children, Roger Kirby of Chattanooga, TN, Steve Kirby, Renee Garner of Dalton, GA, Vicky Shallowford of TX, Janey Kirby of LA; grandchildren, Tracy Pope of Bradenton, FL, Anthony and Valarie Smith, Thomas and Denise Barnes of Chatsworth, GA, Hollie and Tracey Dailey of Chattanooga, TN, Kellie and John Hart of Dalton, GA, Bridget and TeRan VanMeter of Chatsworth, GA; thirteen great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Catherine Louise Smith Kirby will be held Saturday May 27, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. from Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Marty Greene officiating. Interment will follow in the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Friday.
