Mr. Calvin Edward Cronan, age 66, of Cohutta, Georgia, departed this life Tuesday afternoon, April 1, 2014 at his home. Ed was born January 26, 1948 in Whitfield County, Georgia, a son of the late Calvin Isaiah and Cora Lee Stanley Cronan. Ed proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Ed was a minister of the gospel and attended the Redemption Point Church in Ooltewah, Tennessee.

He is survived by his wife of forty-four years, Shelia Cronan of the residence; son and daughter-in-law, Rodney and Carol Cronan of Rome, GA; daughters and son-in-law, Towana and Lamar Williams, Ellen Brown; son-in-law, Tommy Brown all of Cohutta, GA; grandchildren, Taylor Cronan, Cody Cronan, Matt Cronan, Christian Hammontree, Ryan Hammontree, Zack and Sarah Williams and Gracy Brown; great-grandchildren, Bayla Hammontree, Ryder Hammontree and Rylee Williams; brothers, Dennis, Ronald, Alvin and Avery Cronan all of Cohutta, GA; sister, Sandra Faye Mantooth of Chatsworth, GA; several nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Calvin Edward Cronan will be held Thursday, April 3, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. Noon at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Junior Williams officiating. He will be laid to rest at the Boyd Cemetery in Cohutta, Georgia, with Rodney Cronan, Zack Williams, Tommy Brown, Nathaniel Cronan, Sam Cronan, Chad Stanley, Jeremy Cronan, Jacob Cronan and Shane Stanley serving as pallbearers. Military graveside honors will be provided by the American Legion Post #112. The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and after 9:00 a.m. Thursday until the service hour.
