Mrs. Brenda Ann Spurgeon, age 73, of Rocky Face, Georgia, departed this life Friday, June 16, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family.

Brenda was born March 15, 1950 in Loganville, Georgia, a daughter of the late Paul V. and Clemmie Rogers Ray. She was also preceded in death by her husband of thirty-five years, Kenneth Ray Spurgeon, and a great-grandson, Ian Tyler Lowery, Jr.  She was a 1968 graduate of North Whitfield High School.  Brenda worked several years at Shaw Industries, was a stay at home, Nanna, and later retired from Hamilton Medical Center. Brenda was a member of Oliva Baptist Church. Her family described her as sweet, caring, funny, "a pistol" and honest.  Brenda loved her family without question, and her family will miss her deeply.

She is survived by her daughter, Kellie and Ronald Stewart of Rocky Face, GA; son, Travis and Christopher Wright of Covington, GA: brothers, Roy and Linda Ray, Fred and Pat Ray, Wayne and Annette Ray all of Chatsworth, GA; and Billy and Michelle Ray of Ringgold, GA; sister, Sheila and Jimmy Mull of Jackson, GA; grandchildren, Jacob and Dani Stewart, Britney Stewart, Ian and Kayla Lowery, and Megan Lowery; great-grandchildren, Grayson, Daile, Rylee and Ayden; special niece, Amanda Hinson of Jackson, GA; special friend, Charlotte Price of Resaca, GA; sister-in-law, Kay and James Jackson of Ringgold, GA; several other nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Brenda Ann Spurgeon will be held Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at 5:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with her Pastor, Reverend John Everett officiating.  She will be laid to rest at Gordy Memorial Gardens in Tunnel Hill, Georgia.

The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel after 2:00 p.m. Tuesday until the service hour.
