Ms. Brenda Joyce Dobbs, age 71, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Sunday evening, February 4, 2018 at the local hospital. Brenda was born February 7, 1946 in Dalton, Georgia, a daughter of the late Harold Clyde and Mollie Etta Douglas Langham. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Martin, a brother, Clyde Langham and a brother-in-law, Eddie McEntire.
Brenda was a 1964 graduate of North Whitfield High School and was retired from Windstream after forty years of service. Brenda was a member of Liberty Baptist Church.
Brenda was described by her family as a selfless servant, who was a teacher and mentor. "Love doesn't come from words, it comes from action" Her daughter and granddaughters said that no matter how hard they try, their biscuits and peach cobbler doesn't quite taste as good as Brenda's.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Donna Hill and Stuart Newman of Hixson, TN; grandchildren, Cody Dobbs and his fiance, Chelsea Abbott, Chance and Isabella Hudson, Brianna Hill and Scott Hill; great-grandchildren, Brayden and Kennedy Hudson; sisters and brother-in-law, Janet Jernigan, Wylene and Doug Eaker all of Dalton, GA; brother and sisters-in-law, Bennett and Peggy Langham of Chatsworth, GA, Brenda Silva of Dalton, GA; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate the life of Ms. Brenda Joyce Dobbs will be held Wednesday, February 7, 2018, which would have been her 72nd birthday, at 2:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Cody Dobbs officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her grandparents at Dawn Rest Cemetery with Reverend Danny Cochran officiating. Pallbearers will be Cody Dobbs, Chance Hudson, Shawn McGill, Bryson Williams, Terry Clinton and Ray Cochran.
The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Tuesday and after 11:00 a.m. Wednesday until the service hour.
