Mrs. Brenda Clayton, age 68, of Cohutta, Georgia, departed this life, Thursday March 10, 2022 at Hamilton Medical Center. Brenda was born May 15, 1953 in Cleveland, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Columbus Boyd and Nettie Bell White Hawkins. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joe Remarse Clayton, Sr; step-son, Jeff Clayton; brothers, Gene Hawkins, Luther Hawkins; sisters, Betty Killion, Wanda McNabb, Frances Cross.

Brenda is survived by her son, Carl Fowler of Cohutta, Georgia; brother, J.W. Hawkins of Knoxville, Tennessee; sisters, Susie Dorlon of Rocky Face, Georgia; Barbara Clayton of Cohutta, Georgia; daughter-in-law, Kimberly and Chad Neighbors; grandchildren, James Fowler, William Fowler, Bailey Clayton, Xander Clayton, Zachary Clayton; great-granddaughter, Nicole Fowler; special friends, Janie Warmack, Brenda Shults and grand-dog, Max and nieces and nephews and many other friends.

Service to celebrate the life of Brenda Clayton will be held, Tuesday March 15, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. from Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Adam Warren and Reverend Brian Clayton officiating. Burial will take place at United Memorial Gardens next to her beloved husband.

The family will receive friends, Monday March 14, 2022 at Ponders Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
