Mr. Bobby Gene Smith, age 67, of Tunnel Hill, Georgia, departed this life Wednesday morning, September 10, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born September 11, 1946 in Palmer, Tennessee, a son of the late Elvin Franklin and Beulah Bell Robertson Smith. He was also preceded in death by a son, Bobby Gene Smith, Jr., brothers, Elmer, Herbert, Alfred and Hal Smith, sisters, Martha Elizabeth Caldwell, Mary Catherine Burnette, Aline Hargis, Eula Mae Bess and Edna Brown.

Bob was retired from Shaw Industries and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Tunnel Hill, Georgia. Bob was an avid outdoorsman and loved woodworking.

He is survived by his loving wife, Geraldine Rhudy Smith of the residence and would have celebrated their forty-ninth wedding anniversary on October 3, 2014; sons and daughters-in-law, Spencer and Christina Smith, Jason and Randi Smith all of Tunnel Hill, GA, Barry and Amy Smith of Gruetli-Laager, TN; grandchildren, Dillon Painter, Danielle Smith, Corey Smith, Christopher Smith, Katelynn Smith, Chelsea Smith, Aubrey Smith and one on the way; brothers, Samuel Smith of Gruetli-Laager, TN, Troy Smith of Varnell, GA, Fred Smith of Tunnel Hill, GA; sisters, Betty Mathis of Crandall, GA, Lois Marie Lance of Dalton, GA; several nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Bobby Gene Smith will be held Saturday, September 13, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Pastor Tony Hyatt officiating. He will be laid to rest at the West Hill Cemetery with Christopher Smith, Dillon Painter, Corey Smith, Jeremy Smith, Ricky Smith and Josh Smith serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Friday and after 11:00 a.m. Saturday until the service hour.
