Mr. Billy Grady "Bill" Hewitt, Sr., age 80, of Chatsworth, Georgia, departed this life Friday April 19, 2024, at the local hospital.
Bill was born July 24, 1943 in Dalton, Georgia, a son of the late Grady Henry and Bertha Eaker Hewitt.  He was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Darlene Hewitt, a grandson, Eric Jones, and a brother, Jeff Hewitt.

Bill was an over the road and local truck driver for many years. He loved to restore and tinker with old trucks and cars.

He is survived by his wife of thirty-two years, Lois Burkett Hewitt of the residence; sons and daughters-in-law, Lynn and Tammie Hewitt of Tunnel Hill, GA, and Billy and Teresa Hewitt, Jr. of Chatsworth, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Charlene Wall of Benton, TN, Shirley and Tim Ridley of Summerville, GA, Sue and Kenneth Wilson of Crandall, GA, and Tammy Acosta of Dalton, GA; grandchildren, Amy and Chris James, Rodney Hewitt, Jennifer and Marcus Tate, Bradley Richardson, Kayla and Cody Plott, Destiny and John Fowler, Jacob and Taya Hewitt, Alexis Hewitt, Barry Jones, Adam and Keisha Wilson, and Michael Quinn; brothers, Teddy Hewitt and Jerry Hewitt both of Rocky Face, GA; twenty-three great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Billy Grady "Bill" Hewitt, Sr., will be held Thursday morning, April 25, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Rick Edwards and Reverend David Ash officiating.  The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Wednesday and after 9:00 a.m. Thursday until the service hour.
