Mrs. Betty Sue Mulkey of London, Kentucky and formerly of Gordon County, Georgia. was born January 31, 1941, in Calhoun, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late Alvin Shirley and Lola Tillery Shirley. She was united in marriage to Paul Vernon Mulkey who preceded her in death. She is survived by her five children, Brenda Smith, Wanda Sewell, and Roy Mulkey all of London, Kentucky, Inez Young of Rome, Georgia, and Leon Mulkey of Dalton, Georgia; three siblings, Evelyn Mullinax and husband Jim Tom of Fairmount, Georgia, Joann Rasar and Elaine Mason all of Chatsworth, Georgia; eight grandchildren, Jerry Mulkey, Renay Elder, John Smith, Paul Curtin, Derrick Fuller, Matt Fuller, Kim Mealer, and Jonathan Mulkey and wife Donna; twelve great-grandchildren; plus a host of other family and friends to mourn her passing.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is also preceded in death by two siblings, James Tillery and Christine Stone; 2 sons-in-law, Delbert Smith, Larry Sewell; her daughter-in-law, Pamela Ames; three brothers-in-law, Shelby Rasar, Arie Mason, and Gene Stone.
She was a homemaker and a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.
Betty Sue Mulkey departed this life Wednesday, February 15, 2023, being 82 years and 15 days of age.
Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Betty Sue Mulkey will be held Sunday, February 19, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. at Ponders Fairmount Chapel with Reverend Cecil Benge officiating. She be laid to rest beside her beloved husband at East Damascus Baptist Church Cemetery. Matt Fuller, Derick Fuller, James Mullinax, Robert Mullinax, and A.J. Powell are honored to serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at Ponders Fairmount Chapel after 1:00 p.m. Sunday until the service hour.
