Obituary

Mrs. Betty Pippin, age 84, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Wednesday September 9, 2020 at her home surrounded by her loving family.   Betty was born April 12, 1936 in Blairsville, Georgia, a daughter of the late Paul and Lee Etta Akins.  She was also preceded in death by her loving husband of fifty-seven years, William Lewis "Junior" Pippin and a son Larry N. Pippin, and her brothers, Lloyd, Henry, John and James Akins and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Haskel and Minnie Jenkins Pippin.

Betty was retired from Shaw Industries and was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church. She loved her family and friends deeply and was extremely protective of them.  She was a kind hearted woman who would do anything for her family and friends.
She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Rick and Loretta Pippin of Cohutta, GA, Ken Pippin of Ringgold, GA; sister, Imogene Trollinger of Dalton, GA; a special caregiver and granddaughter, Tracy Scoggins and her husband David: brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Violet Pippin, Gene Pippin,  Richard Watson, Margaret Pippin; eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Betty Pippin will be held Saturday September 12, 202 at 2:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Dr. Levoyd Whitton officiating.  She will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband at Ponders Colonial Hills Memorial Park Cemetery with Avery Scoggins, David Scoggins, Dustin Scoggins, Dillon Maney, Nathan Pippin and Israel Maney honored to serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Friday and after 11:00 a.m. Saturday until the service hour.

Due to the National health crisis and the Covid-19 virus, masks must be worn properly at all times and social distancing must be observed when visiting the funeral home.
