Obituary

Betty Jean Duncan Brown, 89, of Dalton, Georgia, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on September 6, 2025.

Born and raised in Dalton, Betty was the daughter of the late George and Daisy Duncan. She was preceded in death by her six brothers and one sister.

Betty is survived by her children, Gary Clark (Charlotte) and Debbie Clark Bryant (Pat). She was a proud and devoted Grammy to Caitlin Bryant Burnett (Zach), Mitchell Clark (Madelyn), and Hunter Bryant (Lyndsay). Her four great-grandchildren—Aidalee, Johnathan, Avery, and Jace—were her greatest treasures.

Betty's life was blessed with wonderful caregivers this past year who became like family. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to each of them for their loving care and devotion, as well as the staff from Amedysis Hospice.

Faith was at the heart of Betty's life. She served faithfully at Bethel United Methodist Church, where her servant's heart shone through. She was a 1954, graduate of Dawnville High School. In her career, she worked for many years as an Administrative Assistant at Hamilton Memorial Hospital, later as Office Manager at Tice Yarns, where she was respected for her dedication and work ethic. She ended her working career in the offices at Dalyn Rug Company.

Betty's home was always filled with flowers, love, laughter, and the aroma of her wonderful cooking. She was especially known for hosting joyful Christmas gatherings, where family and friends came together to celebrate. Her kindness, generosity, and unwavering faith left a lasting impression on all who knew her. Too many, she was the embodiment of grace, and her words and actions reflected the love of Jesus.

Betty's life will be celebrated on Thursday September 11th at Ponders Melrose Chapel at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Bill Floyd officiating a service of remembrance of a woman whose life was a blessing to all. She will be laid to rest at Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation at 12:00 p.m. until the service hour.

Betty's legacy of faith, love, and service will live on in the hearts of her family and all who knew and loved her.
