Mrs. Betty Marie Baker, age 72, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Saturday, July 1, 2023 at the local hospital. She was born September 8, 1950 in Ellijay, GA, a daughter of James Ernest and Jewell Pittman Welch.  She was also preceded in death by her sister Christine Nelson, sister-in-law Barbara Owen. She worked a Galaxy Carpet for almost 40 years and will be missed by her work family.

She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Richard Lamar Baker of the residence; brothers and sister-in-law, Grady and Debbie Welch of Chatsworth, GA, Raymond Welch of Ellijay, GA; sisters and brothers-in-law, Emmalee and Charles Wright, Barbara and Harold Chastain of Ellijay, GA; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Christine Hullender of Cohutta, GA, Jean and Don McGinnis, Doris and Larry Smith, Reed and Janet Franks, Marvin Baker all of Dalton, GA; nieces and nephews, Polly, Melissa, Christy, Hannah, Hayli, Erity, Grady Jr., Gary.

Service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Betty Marie Baker will be held Sunday July 9, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. from the Ponders Melrose Chapel WITH Reverend Charles Rogers officiating. Interment will be in the Hill City Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Saturday.
