Mrs. Bertha Sue Pollard, age 90, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Thursday, August 24, 2023 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

Sue was born January 8, 1933 in Dalton, Georgia, a daughter of the late William Lee and Bessie Lee Hughes Darnell. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Lalor, sisters, Lenora Green, and Faye (Richard) Patterson, brothers, Eugene Darnell, Howard (Alene) Darnell, Herschel (Nancy) Darnell,  and Frank Darnell, sisters-in-law Macie Darnell, Modine Morrow, Lou Nell Pollard and Arlene Pollard, brothers-in-law, Floyd Pollard and Vance Pollard.

Sue was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Edward C. Pollard of the residence; sons and daughters-in-law, Daniel Ray and Cheryl Marcus of Tunnel Hill, GA; Jeff and Danna Pollard of Lakeland, FL; daughter and sons-in-law, Melissa and Gerald Chambers of Columbia, SC, and Bernie Lalor of Huntsville, AL; grandchildren, Jonathan Marcus, Robert Chambers, Rebecca Chambers, Thomas and Anna Marie Pollard, Sean and Emily Lalor, Justin and Leah Lalor, Kaityln and Benji Aviles, and Heather and Jason Gustafson; great-granddaughter, Kirrah Marcus; brothers and sisters-in-law, William "Billy" and Teresa Darnell of Dalton, GA, Delmar Darnell of Dalton, GA; sister-in-law, Shelby Jean Pollard of Guin, AL; special caregiver, Elaine Bates of Dalton, GA; several other great-great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Bertha Sue Pollard will be Monday, August 28, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Steve Spangler and Reverend Chase Cranmore officiating.  She will be laid to rest with her family at Little Prospect Memorial Burial Grounds with Jonathan Marcus, Ricky Darnell, Alvin Darnell, Brent Darnell, Matt Adams and Mike Ogles honored to serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel after 1:00 p.m. Monday until the service hour at 3:00 p.m.
