Mr. Bernard Broome, age 51, of Chatsworth, Georgia, departed this life Thursday, December 31, 2020 at the local hospital. He was born March 7, 1969 in Jackson, GA. He was preceded in death by his father, Jimmy Broome. He was employed at Mohawk Industries for the past 24 years. He was the treasurer of the Murray County Touchdown Club and dedicated his life to the kids in the community. He was known to the kids as Uncle Bernard. He loved the kids and most of all his family. If there was a football game at Murray County he was there to support the team.
He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 31 years, Stephanie Hall Broome of the residence; daughter and son-in-law, Hannah and Jordan Witherow; sons and daughters-in-law, Zachary Broome and Sarah Wagnon of Chatsworth, GA, Justin and Raven Brown of Douglasville, GA; grandchildren, Isaiah and Jeremiah Witherow of Chatsworth, GA, Asher Brown of Douglasville, GA; mother, Mary Broome; brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Dareth Broome; uncle and aunt, Arthur Lee and Phyllis Broome all of Dalton, GA; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Doug and Joyce Hall; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Michelle Vandergriff, Jennifer and John Zeigler all of Chatsworth, GA; several nieces and nephews.
A private family service will be held on Monday January 4, 2021 at the Ponders Melrose Chapel with Bishop Claude Jones officiating. He will be laid to rest at the Ponders Murray Memorial Gardens with Chad Brewer, Billy Hayes, Josh Zeigler, Jake White, Wesley McWhorter and Tracy Jones serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday January 3, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Murray County Touchdown Club P. O. Box 474 Chatsworth, GA 30705.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the nurses that gave such great care to Bernard, Melinda Fair, Danielle Plott, Mary Caitlin Lock, Blake Dean and Freddy Fairman.
Due to the National health crisis and the Covid-19 virus, masks must be worn properly at all times and social distancing must be observed when visiting the funeral home.
