Mr. Berdell Luther Chastain, age 77, of Tunnel Hill, Georgia, departed this life Sunday, April 6, 2014 at the local hospital. Berdell was born March 3, 1937 in Dalton, GA, a son of the late Gilbert and Ruby Brickley Chastain. He was also preceded in death by his son, Billy Ray Chastain, brothers, Richard, John and Arvil Chastain, sisters, Ruby Gowin, Exie Mann, Mary Frances Baggett. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force.

He is survived by his loving wife of fifty nine years, Geraline Howard Chastain of the residence; sons and daughters-in-law, Larry Moe and Tracy Lynn Chastain of LaFayette, GA, Terry Lee and Carolyn Chastain of Cohutta, GA, Wayne and Roberta Chastain of Villanow, GA, Allen Darrell and Angie Chastain, Ronnie Chastain, Donnie and Tracy D. Chastain all of Tunnel Hill, GA; brothers and sister-in-law, Gilbert and Betty Chastain, Bobby Chastain of Dalton, GA; thirteen grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Berdell Luther Chastain will be held Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. from the Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Jackie Chasteen officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Carmel Baptist Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. on Tuesday.
