Obituary

Mr. Benny Leon Ervin, age 83 of Rossville, Georgia departed this life for his heavenly home on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.

Benny was born December 27, 1938, to the late Willard Ervin and Katie Gertrude Parrish. He is also preceded in death by his loving wife of 43 years Linda Kay Ervin, brothers; Willard Ervin, Bobby Ervin, and Eugene Ervin, sister; Yvonne Justice, and grandson; Justin Aaron Witherow.

Benny was a hardworking family man that was employed at Chattanooga Glass for over 30 years. He also worked for the Catoosa and Walker County school systems until he retired. For fun Benny enjoyed watching and playing all sports. He enjoyed telling his family all about boxing in his younger years. He played baseball and basketball in high school at Lakeview High School. He was an All-American and holds a record at Lakeview for the most points scored in a basketball game. After school he played on a men's league softball team. He enjoyed sports so much that he would have the television and the radio on at the same time listening and watching sport games. He also loved vacationing in Daytona Beach, Florida with his family. He owned several timeshare condos and loved taking all of his family on trips with him.

Benny was a precious God loving man. He was a member of Temple Baptist church in Rossville, Georgia. He raised his children in church and raised them to love the Lord.

We are going to miss our father so much but find comfort in the fact that he is finally at peace and with the love of his life again, our mama. He has missed her every day since the day she left, and we know she was waiting in line right behind Jesus to greet him very impatiently.

He is survived by his son Tim (April) Ervin, daughters; Kim (Jr) Witherow, Kristy Tara Ramker-White (Paul), grandchildren; Jerrett (Valerie) Witherow, Holly Witherow, Jordan (Hannah) Witherow, Jessica (Matt) Peters, Jake Ervin, Lexie Hamby, Tyler (Baylie) Suddeth and Lauren Suddeth, brother; Roy Wayne Ervin, sisters; Joann Frasier, and Faye Frasier, 10 great-grandchildren and many cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends.

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Benny Leon Ervin will be held on Sunday February 27, 2022, at 4 p.m. at Ponders Brainerd Chapel with his nephew Doug Frazier officiating. He will be laid to rest at Lakewood Memory Garden South in Rossville, Georgia on Monday February 28, 2022 at 12 p.m.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday February 27, 2022, from 12 p.m. until the service hour.
