Benny Barnes went to his heavenly home Thursday, March 21, 2019. Benny was a lifelong resident of Dalton. He served his country and community in the National Guard for 20 years. He worked at Dalton Utilities and later at Textile Industrial Welding. All his life he enjoyed learning new skills. Even as he was fighting cancer, one of his favorite things to do was watch how-to learning programs on Youtube to expand his knowledge.

Benny is survived by Cindy Barnes, Chris Barnes, Rosa Lee "Tootsie" Green, Robert Ogle, Donna Ogle, Vickie Lombard, Penny Hayes, Tony Findley, and Mike Sullivan.

Service to celebrate the life of Benny Barns will be held Wednesday April 10, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. from the Ponders Melrose Chapel with Jonathan Owenby officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest at the Chattanooga National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday April 10, 2019.
