IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Barbara Ann
Lane
April 6, 1930 – February 4, 2023
Barbara "Barbie" Ann Lane was a spunky 92 year old who loved with all her heart and was known for the fudge she made. On February 4, 2023 early in the morning at Siskin Hospital, Barbara knelt down on her knees in prayer. The wonderful nurses on duty at the time joined her in prayer before assisting her back into bed. Shortly later at 6:20 am, Barbara peacefully passed in her sleep.
Barbie was born on a Sunday evening on April 6, 1930 in Monmouth, IL. She has lived in many places in the United States but most recently has been living in Rocky Face, GA. She graduated from Wataga High School in 1948. The youngest of nine children provided many opportunities for her to babysit her adventurous nieces and nephews. She still considered the Galesburg, IL area home. During her time in Wheaton, IL, she served as a Girl Scout Leader. After moving to Sinking Spring, PA, she began working at Sears while she still remained active in Band Boosters for her daughters and Basketball Boosters for her son.
After retirement, Barbie enjoyed traveling, gardening, and being with her family. Her biggest joy was cheering on her granddaughter, Lexi, through all of her activities and her great-grandson Anthony, as he played football. She was passionate about staying active, and she was often seen outside working in the yard with her sidekick Mia.
Preceded in death by her parents, William and Margaret Morris; eight siblings: Cobby, Louise, Frankie, Rosie, Dick, Martha, Bob, and Pat; and husband, Ernest Joy Lane.
Survived by her children Deborah (Clarence) Bierwiler of Collegeville, PA, Kathleen Edwards of Rocky Face, GA, Thomas (Jinger) Lane of Dallas, TX; grandchildren Lawrence Rohrbach of Collegeville, PA and Alexia Edwards of Rocky Face, GA, and great grandchild Anthony Rohrbach of York, PA. She is also survived by her "adopted sister", Marilyn Sharp, Cohutta, GA. Many nieces and nephews survive.
First visitation in Dalton, GA will be held Saturday February 11, 2023 from 3pm-6pm at Ponders Funeral Home. The rosary will be recited at 4:00 pm by Marilyn Sharp.
Second visitation will be in Galesburg, IL on February 17, 2023 at Hinchliff- Pearson-West Funeral Home from 12:30pm-2:00pm. Mass of Christian Burial at 2:00 pm at Corpus Christi Catholic Church. Burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Please join the family after the burial at Budde's Bar as we raise our glass in a toast to a wonderful Mother, Grandmother, Great-grandmother, Aunt, Sister and Friend.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Barbara's memory to St.Vincent De Paul, ℅ St.Joseph Catholic Church, 968 Haig Mill Lake Road, Dalton, GA 30720.
