Mrs. Barbara Jean Holden Smith, age 79, of Dalton, GA, departed this life Friday, November 25, 2016 and went to her heavenly home. Barbara was born September 26, 1937 in Ellijay, GA, the daughter of the late Ernest Holden and Mary Pettit Holden. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Floyd Lamar Smith and Henry Talmadge Boyd. Barbara worked many years for the Whitfield County School system. She loved the mountains and the outdoors, her grandkids and was a wonderful mother. Barbara attended Ridge Road Baptist Church.
Mrs. Barbara Jean Holden is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Rodney Boyd; Roger and Amanda Smith, both of Dalton, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Gary Moore of Dalton, GA, Karen and Mike King of Chatsworth, GA, Pamela and Jeff Moore of Mary Esther, FL, Teresa Holcomb of Dalton, GA, Rhonda Gazaway of Chatsworth, GA; brother, Mike Holden of Chatsworth, GA; sister, Carolyn Carter of Dalton, GA; grandchildren Ashley and Joe Hicks, Amanda Moore, Michael King II, Josh and Adrienne Greeson, Andrew King, Hannah Callahan, David Moore, Hannah and Jake Franks, Ryan Smith, Jaydon Moore, Abby Smith, Brandon Hawkins, Lindsay and Eric Corneilson and eleven great-grandchildren.
Service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Barbara Jean Holden Smith, will be held, Monday, November 28, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. from Ponders Melrose Chapel with Pastor Jeremiah Quarles officiating. Barbara will be laid to rest at West Hill Cemetery, with David Moore, Josh Greeson, Andrew King, Ryan Smith, Jaydon Moore and Michael King II, serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends Sunday, November 27, 2016 at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5:00 p.m. til 9:00 p.m. A special thanks you to Homestead Hospice, Dr. Prostko, and Dr. Naguib.
